Meramecian rocks comprises limestone and cherty limestone, with lesser amounts of dolomite. Much of the oil and gas production in the state is from weathered cherts (“chats”) and associated carbonate rocks in these sections. However, some fields such and Schaben, Bindley, and Glick, also produce from spiculitic rocks. In contrast, along the Each of these fields has produced about million bbl of oil from the "Warsaw." Wells in Bessie field, discovered in , have average estimated reserves of 90, bbl/well 7 from depths of

Subsurface Stratigraphy and Oil Fields in the Salem Limestone and Associated Rocks in Indiana ABSTRACT: The Stephensport Group (Chesterian) of Indiana consists of five formations. In ascending order the Stephensport Group consists of the Beech Creek Limestone, the Big Clifty Formation, and Haney Limestone, the Hardinsburg Formation, and the Glen Dean Limestone.

Interpretations of maps and cross sections compiled from subsurface data show the interrelationships among these units with ?Pub_Num=B ABSTRACT: The Buffalo Wallow Group in Indiana contains all Mississippian rocks above the Glen Dean Limestone and ranges in thickness from zero at its eroded outcrop and subcrop limits to as much as feet in Posey County.

The nine named formations of the group in the subsurface are identified with units in the standard upper Chesterian section, and these formations retain the general ?Pub_Num=B A-C D-F G-I J-L M-O P-R S-U V-Z.

Waulsortian mounds in the basin contain a lime mudstone to wackestone core that is flanked and capped by in situ porous bryozoan bafflestone or transported   The limestone bedrock, which lies below the ground surface in the study area, is highly soluble and prone to dissolution and the resulting development of karst features such as sinkholes, caves, springs and disappearing streams.

Also, there are productive oil and gas fields Studies and Reports/Appendix C. Subtidal carbonate shoals such as the Middle Mississippian Salem Limestone of the Illinois Basin represent hydrodynamically accumulated carbonate sands in an inner shelf, shoreface setting (Wilson ; Hine ).Though deposited in an epeiric setting of a tectonically stable and structurally simple interior cratonic basin, these skeletal and non-skeletal sand bodies reflect an actively Volume: 64 () Issue: 8.
